Edy Widjaja was born in Pontianak, grew up behind his parents' provision shop in Jakarta, earned a PhD at Northwestern and an MBA at INSEAD, worked as a scientist in Belgium, and spent fifteen years at Bain & Company, retiring as Senior Partner. He is now a student again, studying theology in Singapore.
